Microsoft access couldn't find file system.mdw this file is required for startup

RESOLUTION

1. Quit access if it is open.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type the following line in the Open box, and then click OK.
• If you are running Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition, or Microsoft Windows XP:

regsvr32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\msjtes40.dll

• If you are running Microsoft Windows NT or Microsoft Windows 2000:

regsvr32.exe C:\WINNT\system32\msjtes40.dll

NOTE: The location of Msjtes40.dll may be different on your computer.
4. Restart access, and then open your database file.
5. In the Database window, try to open one of the tables.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

1. Quit access if it is open.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type the following line into the Open box, and then click OK:

regsvr32.exe /u C:\WINNT\system32\msjtes40.dll

NOTE: The path to Msjtes40.dll may be different on your computer.
4. Restart access, and then open the Northwind sample database.
5. In the Database window, try to open one of the tables.Note that you receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section of this article.
